Question

What is the view regarding Medical Aid and Hospital Plan?

If it’s permissible, please indicate to which plan of which company will be permissible to use.

Are there alternatives to this? If yes, please suggest it.

Answer

Voluntary Medical aid and hospital plans are not permissible due to them being akin to Insurance. Insurance is Haram due to it containing the components of Riba (interest) and Gambling.

The alternative is that a person must save and keep aside his own money for such medical emergencies. At the time of need, this money can be used.
