Doctor treating the infection of a female
Question
Is it permissible for a female to have a doctor treat an infection in her private part?
Answer
It is permissible for a doctor to treat the infection of a female in the private part, particularly if treatment is required. However, she should have herself treated by a female doctor instead of a male doctor, since Muslim female doctors are easily available in our times. Notwithstanding the above, if the infection can be treated through medication, then there is no need to expose the private part to the doctor. Many doctors are well-experienced and able to prescribe medication merely by the patient explaining the symptoms to the Doctor. Hence, the Fatwa of permissibility mentioned above is applicable in the case where the doctor has no other alternative but to examine the patient in that particular area.
