A mu’takif keeps on talking about his business with people in the masjid, although he adheres to all the other laws of ie’tikaaf.
Answer
His ie’tikaaf is valid although he will be deprived of the spiritual benefits of ie’tikaaf. (303)
Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
