Was it correct to fasten ihraam in Jeddah?

Question

A person went for Umrah, his plane landed in Jeddah on Tuesday morning,he stayed in Jeddah and on Wednesday after Asr he went to Makkah shareef for Umrah, he fastened ihraam in Jeddah,after Umrah he returned to Jeddah.Was it correct to fasten ihraam in Jeddah?

Answer

It is safer to tie the ihraam at the point where it is announced that you are passing the meeqaat.

( وحرم تأخير الإحرام عنها ) كلها ( لمن ) أي لآفاقي ( قصد دخول مكة ) يعني الحرم ( ولو لحاجة ) غير الحج أما لو قصد موضعا من الحل كخليص وجدة حل له مجاوزته بلا إحرام فإذا حل به التحق بأهله فله دخول مكة بلا إحرام وهو الحيلة لمريد ذلك إلا لمأمور بالحج للمخالفة ( لا ) يحرم ( التقديم ) للإحرام ( عليها ) بل هو الأفضل إن في أشهر الحج وأمن على نفسه ( وحل لأهل داخلها ) يعني لك لمن وجد في داخل المواقيت ( دخول مكة غير محرم ) ما لم يرد نسكا للحرج كما لو جاوزها حطابو مكة فهذا ( ميقاته الحل ) الذي بين المواقيت والحرم ( و ) الميقات ( لمن بمكة ) يعني من بداخل الحرم ( للحج الحرم وللعمر الحل ) ليتحقق نوع سفر.
