Placing a pen over one's ear

Question

Hadith no. 4657 in Mishkaat mentions that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) told a scribe that ضع القلم على اذنك (place the pen over your ear). Will this be considered to be a sunnat?

Answer

There is kalaam on this hadeeth. On account of the kalaam, one cannot conclusively say that it is sunnat.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
