Must all traces of surmah be removed from in and out the eye before making wudhu?
Published as Removing traces of surmah before wudhu
Question
Must all traces of surmah be removed from in and out the eye before making wudhu?
Answer
If the surmah is on the skin of the face, then it should be washed off when making wudu.
If it is not washed off and wudu is made, then if it does not prevent the water from reaching the face, then the wudu will be valid.
However, if it is such that it prevents the water from reaching the skin, then the wudu will not be valid.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
