Women's ankles being exposed in salaah

Question

If a woman's ankles are exposed in Salaah does her Salaah break? If she hadn't known of this will she have to make qadha for these salaahs?

Answer

She should ensure that the ankles are covered. However if the ankles were exposed during Salaah, the Salaah will be valid.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

( ويمنع ) حتى انعقادها ( كشف ربع عضو ) قدر أداء ركن بلا صنعه ( من عورة غليظة أو خفيفة ) على المعتمد ( والغليظة قبل ودبر وما حولهما والخفيفة ما عدا ذلك ) من الرجل والمرأة (الدر المختار 1/ 408-409)

قال الشامي : تتمة أعضاء عورة الرجل ثمانية الأول الذكر وما حوله الثاني الأنثيان وما حولهما الثالث الدبر وما حوله الرابع والخامس الأليتان السادس والسابع الفخذان مع الركبتين الثامن ما بين السرة إلى العانة مع ما يحاذي ذلك من الجنبين والظهر والبطن وفي الأمة ثمانية أيضا الفخذان مع الركبتين والأليتان والقبل مع ما حوله والدبر كذلك والبطن والظهر مع ما يليهما من الجنبين وفي الحرة هذه الثمانية ويزاد فيها ستة عشر الساقان مع الكعبين والثديان المنكسران والأذنان والعضدان مع المرفقين والذراعان مع الرسغين والصدر والرأس والشعر والعنق وظهر الكفين وينبغي أن يزاد فيها أيضا الكتفان ولا يجعلان مع الظهر عضوا واحدا بدليل أنهم جعلوا ظهر الأمة عورة دون كتفيها وكذلك بطنا القدمين عورة في رواية أي وهي الأصح كما قدمناه عن إعانة الحقير للمصنف فتصير ثمانية وعشرين كذا حرره ح (رد المحتار 1/ 409)
